Wisconsin dyslexia law: what Act 20 and Act 86 mean for your family
Under Act 20, every Wisconsin district now screens all 4K through 3rd grade students for reading readiness three times a year in 5K through grade 3, with a diagnostic assessment and Personal Reading Plan for students below the 25th percentile.
That is a safety net, not a diagnosis. A universal screener identifies that a child is behind, never why, and it stops after third grade. Wisconsin's Informational Guidebook on Dyslexia and Related Conditions, required by 2019 Wisconsin Act 86, guides districts but does not require any of them to formally identify dyslexia.

Yes. The risk questionnaire, the WIAT-4 Zoom screener, and the results conversation are all free with no obligation. We open 10 free screening slots a week.
Will the report work for our Wisconsin school district?
Yes. You receive a standardized written report designed to support an IEP, a 504 plan, or classroom accommodations. Under federal law (34 CFR 300.502), once you share an independent evaluation the district is required to review it.
